About
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Necmettin Erbakan University. I am also a Research Affiliate at the Marschall Lab, part of the Institute for Medical Biometry and Bioinformatics at Heinrich-Heine University, and a member of the CompEvo Lab at the Middle East Technical University (METU).
My primary research interests lie in the development of algorithms for bioinformatics and computational genomics, particularly in the areas of
- Structural variation discovery and genotyping
- Pangenomes
- Ancient DNA
I received my PhD from the Department of Computer Engineering at Bilkent University in 2018, where I worked under the supervision of Can Alkan in the Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics Group. Most recently, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Marschall Lab, Heinrich-Heine University (2022–2024), before joining Necmettin Erbakan University.
